Lithium Deuteride (LiD) | Nuclear & Isotopic Research Grade | CAS 13587-16-1

Overview

Lithium Deuteride (LiD) is a highly specialized, stable isotopic compound of lithium and deuterium. Appearing as a white to grayish crystalline solid, it shares the extreme reactivity of Lithium Hydride but is prized uniquely for its isotopic composition. It is a critical material at the absolute frontier of modern science, utilized heavily in thermonuclear fusion research, advanced neutron shielding, and the synthesis of cutting-edge deuterated pharmaceuticals.

Product Overview

Lithium Deuteride (LiD) is a highly specialized, stable isotopic compound of lithium and deuterium. It shares the extreme reactivity of Lithium Hydride but is prized uniquely for its isotopic composition. It is a critical material at the absolute frontier of modern science, utilized heavily in thermonuclear fusion research, advanced neutron shielding, and the synthesis of cutting-edge deuterated pharmaceuticals.

At Shandong Yinglang Chemical Co., Ltd., established in 2016, we supply highly enriched Lithium Deuteride. Packaged strictly under inert Argon gas to preserve its isotopic integrity and prevent moisture degradation, our LiD supports global research institutes. Please note: This product is subject to strict dual-use export controls.

Technical Specifications (COA)

For isotopic research and nuclear applications, both chemical purity and isotopic enrichment are strictly guaranteed. Typical specifications:

Chemical Purity (LiD) ≥ 98.0%
Deuterium Enrichment (D atom %) ≥ 98.0% (Customizable up to 99.5%)
Lithium (Li) Content ~ 77.5%
Moisture / Water ≤ 0.1%

Key Applications

  • Nuclear Fusion Research: The cornerstone material for advanced fusion energy research (Tokamak/Stellarator reactors), acting as a high-density solid source of deuterium fuel.
  • Isotopic Synthesis: An exceptionally powerful deuterating agent used to synthesize deuterated active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to improve drug metabolic profiles.
  • Neutron Shielding: Utilized in highly specialized nuclear environments where advanced neutron moderation is required without generating secondary gamma radiation.

📜 Export Compliance & Dual-Use Regulations

Due to its strategic applications, Lithium Deuteride is a highly regulated substance under international non-proliferation frameworks. Exporting this material requires strict adherence to government regulations. All prospective buyers MUST provide a valid End-User Certificate (EUC) detailing the exact research or commercial application. We will assist qualified clients in navigating the export licensing process.

⚠️ Safety & Transport Information (Class 4.3 DG)

  • Transport Classification: Classified as Class 4.3 (Substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases).
  • UN Number: UN 1414 | Packing Group: I
  • Handling Precautions: DANGEROUS WHEN WET. Reacts explosively with water to release highly flammable deuterium gas. MUST be handled in a strictly controlled glove-box under an Argon atmosphere. Store in a dedicated DG facility.

FAQ

Q1: What documents and certifications do you provide?

A Standard shipment includes COA (Certificate of Analysis) and MSDS (SDS). We also provide ISO 9001 certification and support third-party inspections like SGS or BV upon request.

Q2: Do you provide custom synthesis or formulation services?

A Yes. If you have specific purity requirements or a unique formulation, our R&D team can provide custom synthesis and adjust the stabilizers/inhibitors to meet your technical specifications.

Q3: What are your terms of payment?

A For Orders ≤ $1,000: 100% in advance.
For Orders > $1,000: 30% T/T in advance, and the balance before shipment or against the copy of B/L. Irrevocable L/C at sight is also acceptable for bulk orders.

Q4: How long is your price valid?

A Chemical prices fluctuate due to the changes in raw material costs and exchange rates. Please contact our sales team for the latest real-time quotation.

Q5: What packaging and shipping ports are available?

A We normally ship from Qingdao, Shanghai, or Ningbo.
Standard packaging includes 200kg Drums or 1000kg IBC Totes. We ensure strict safety compliance for both general and hazardous chemical cargoes.

Q6: It's my first time importing chemicals — can you help?

A Absolutely. Importing chemicals requires specific documentation. Our experienced logistics team will assist you with the entire process, including handling customs clearance documents and arranging the most suitable shipping method.
