Product Description

Glacial Acrylic Acid (GAA) | CAS 79-10-7 | High Purity Monomer

CAS: 79-10-7 Purity: ≥ 99.5% UN 2218

Product Overview

Acrylic Acid (often referred to as Glacial Acrylic Acid or GAA) is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic acrid odor. It is a highly reactive carboxylic acid that readily undergoes polymerization. As a foundational monomer in the chemical industry, it is widely utilized to produce high-performance polymers, resins, and specialized chemical intermediates.

At Shandong Yinglang Chemical Co., Ltd., we supply premium-grade Glacial Acrylic Acid (≥ 99.5% purity). To guarantee maximum product stability and prevent dangerous self-polymerization during transport, our GAA is properly stabilized with MEHQ (Monomethyl ether of hydroquinone). We provide robust, corrosion-resistant packaging and fully compliant global DG logistics.

Technical Specifications (COA)

Below are the standard specifications for our export-grade Glacial Acrylic Acid:

Appearance Colorless transparent liquid
Purity (Assay) ≥ 99.5%
Inhibitor (MEHQ Content) 200 ± 20 ppm (or customized per request)
Color (Pt-Co) ≤ 10
Moisture / Water ≤ 0.2%

Key Applications

  • Superabsorbent Polymers (SAP): The primary raw material for manufacturing SAP, which is extensively used in disposable diapers, hygiene products, and agricultural water-retaining agents.
  • Adhesives & Sealants: Polymerized to produce acrylic resins and emulsions, providing excellent tack, UV resistance, and durability for tapes and structural adhesives.
  • Coatings & Paints: A critical monomer in architectural and industrial water-based acrylic paints, offering superior weatherability and color retention.
  • Water Treatment Chemicals: Used to synthesize polyacrylic acid (PAA), an effective scale inhibitor and dispersant in industrial water systems.

Packaging & Storage

Due to its corrosive nature, GAA must be packaged in highly resistant materials (such as HDPE or stainless steel).

  • 200 KG HDPE Plastic Drum
  • 1000 KG IBC Tote
  • 20 - 22 MT ISO Tank

Storage Conditions: Store in a well-ventilated, temperature-controlled warehouse. Crucial Warning: GAA freezes at approximately 13°C (55°F). Keep the storage temperature between 15°C and 25°C. If frozen, thaw carefully at room temperature (never use direct heat/steam), and gently agitate to redistribute the MEHQ inhibitor, as freezing may cause the inhibitor to separate.

⚠️ Safety & Handling Information

  • Hazard Class: Class 8 (Corrosive) & Class 3 (Flammable Liquid)
  • UN Number: UN 2218 | Packing Group: II
  • Handling: Highly corrosive and flammable. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Harmful if inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through skin. Operate strictly under a fume hood or in well-ventilated areas. Full PPE (chemical-resistant suits, butyl rubber gloves, face shields) is mandatory. Avoid contact with strong oxidizers, bases, and heavy metal salts to prevent violent polymerization.

FAQ

Q1: What documents and certifications do you provide?

A Standard shipment includes COA (Certificate of Analysis) and MSDS (SDS). We also provide ISO 9001 certification and support third-party inspections like SGS or BV upon request.

Q2: Do you provide custom synthesis or formulation services?

A Yes. If you have specific purity requirements or a unique formulation, our R&D team can provide custom synthesis and adjust the stabilizers/inhibitors to meet your technical specifications.

Q3: What are your terms of payment?

A For Orders ≤ $1,000: 100% in advance.
For Orders > $1,000: 30% T/T in advance, and the balance before shipment or against the copy of B/L. Irrevocable L/C at sight is also acceptable for bulk orders.

Q4: How long is your price valid?

A Chemical prices fluctuate due to the changes in raw material costs and exchange rates. Please contact our sales team for the latest real-time quotation.

Q5: What packaging and shipping ports are available?

A We normally ship from Qingdao, Shanghai, or Ningbo.
Standard packaging includes 200kg Drums or 1000kg IBC Totes. We ensure strict safety compliance for both general and hazardous chemical cargoes.

Q6: It's my first time importing chemicals — can you help?
